Do your teeth need restoration from damage and decay? At the Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, we're proud to rebuild and restore smiles with beautiful dental crowns or onlays!
Our dental crown services are the best near Smithtown, Long Island, and beyond, because our expert team is here to deliver effective, long-lasting restorations using state-of-the-art materials. Our crowns and onlays are both designed to strengthen the teeth, enhance their natural function, and ensure chewing and biting are never a problem.
State-of-the-Art Dental Crowns
For teeth with wear or decay too severe for a simple dental filling, a full-coverage dental crown may be the best way to preserve the natural tooth. A dental crown, also known as a tooth cap or tooth crown, is designed to cover the entire tooth above the gum line.
We are proud to offer the following selections of materials:
- All-Porcelain Crowns
- All-Ceramic Crowns
Implant-Supported Cosmetic Dental Crowns
Dental crowns can also be placed directly on top of dental implants to completely replace lost teeth. Our dental implant crowns are durable, long-lasting, and support healthy growth in the jaw bone, making them an excellent choice for patients who are seeking minimally invasive restorations that last as long as possible.
Dental Onlays
Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Palmieri will often place dental onlays in areas of the mouth containing fractured teeth that aren’t damaged severely enough to require a full dental crown. They are designed to replace the missing piece of a damaged tooth, up to about 2/3 of the affected tooth.
Onlays are budget-friendly, less-invasive restorations that often allow our team to avoid additional root canal treatment. Like all of our restorations, onlays are always shade-matched to perfectly blend in with the rest of your natural smile.
Are Dental Crowns & Onlays Right For Me?
Our team will typically recommend cosmetic crowns or dental onlays for teeth that are severely cracked, decayed, or have been treated with a root canal. At the Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, all of our dental crown and onlay treatments serve as both functional restorations and cosmetic enhancements to your smile.
We may recommend a dental crown to repair the following conditions:
- Cracked or broken tooth
- Damaged loose crown
- After root canal therapy
- Anchoring a dental bridge
- Correcting a discolored or misshapen tooth (cosmetic purposes)
- To seal a dental implant
How Does Dental Crown & Onlay Treatment Work?
Most dental crown or onlay treatments will require two visits. During your first visit, Dr. Shapiro or Dr. Palmieri will carefully shape the affected tooth and take an impression. Our team will then design the color, contour, and size of your new dental crown or onlay to match perfectly with the rest of your natural teeth.
A custom-crafted temporary crown is then made to protect the tooth. Your final crown or onlay will be ready for placement in only about two weeks!
For all of our dental crowns and onlays, restorations are completely fabricated by skilled technicians in a dental laboratory. Your second visit will take just a few minutes to complete, and you will walk away with a brand-new cosmetic restoration designed to last for many years into the future. Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Palmieri have delivered countless crowns and onlays, many of which have lasted longer than 25 years — a remarkable length of time for a dental restoration!
